South Korea and the United Arab Emirates discussed ways to expand their cooperation in the semiconductor sector, according to a report by South Korea's Yonhap News Agency, citing South Korea's Ministry of Knowledge Economy.
South Korean officials outlined programs established at local universities that train UAE engineers and potential business tie-ups aimed at helping the UAE build up its own semiconductor industry, according to the report.
The UAE delegation, headed by Advanced Technology Investment Co. CEO Ibrahim Ajami, also met with South Korean business leaders, including the president of Samsung Electronics Co., according to the report. The delegation also visited a Hynix Semiconductor Inc. fab in Icheon, South Korea, the report said.
Another round of talks by representatives from the two counties is scheduled for June in the UAE, according to the report.
