FormFactor said it will lay off about 8 percent of its workforce as part of an effort to reduce operating expenses.
"The decision to eliminate jobs is a very difficult one, but we believe this action is crucial to our goal of simplifying the structure and getting back to basics," said FormFactor's CEO, Carl Everett, in a statement.
FormFactor said it expects to incur about $5 million in restructuring charges related to the workforce reduction and other moves, which will be recorded in the second quarter of fiscal 2010. The company said the reduction is one of several cost-saving actions designed to help reduce the company's quarterly non-GAAP operating expenses.
In April, FormFactor announced in a regulatory filing that it cut 106 employees from its headcount as part of a continuing push to move jobs to Asia. The company reduced its workforce by 22 percent in a major reorganization in January 2009.
