The European Green Cars Initiative has launched a project that explores new technology paths towards energy efficiency, functionality and usability of the electric vehicle that are complementary to future advances in performance of battery cell technology.
The objectives of the Information and Communication Technologies for the Full Electric Vehicle (ICT4FEV) project consist in building a R&D community, editing a European roadmap, recommending standards and regulations and establishing a European organization for electric mobility, partners noted.
The consortium is led by VDI/VDE-IT and includes members such as CRF, Siemens, NXP, EADS and AVL List. Another 20 companies from the automotive, energy and ICT sectors have agreed to contribute to ICT4FEV as associated partners.
Started on May 1, 2010, the ICT4FEV project is funded by the European Commission's Directorate General Information Society and Media and has a duration of 24 months.
