Acer will launch a 7-inch and a 10-inch tablet PC in the fourth quarter, both based on the ARM architecture and Android, according to sources from notebook players. Acer is talking with mobile telecom carriers for cooperation to market the two models, the sources added.
Unlike the company's 6-inch gray-scale and 7-inch color e-book readers, the tablet PCs will integrate multimedia entertainment capabilities and feature support for Adobe Flash with Android 2.2.
Acer will continue to push its e-book readers and is already negotiating with telecom carrier Far EasTone Telecommunications for cooperation in Taiwan.
