Microsoft has deals with leading smart phone makers to use its upcoming Windows Phone 7 operating system, according to a report.
Dell, Asus, LG, HTC, and Samsung are planning on releasing devices using Microsoft's mobile OS, a Microsoft executive told U.K.-based Pocket Lint. The software is expected for release around the end of year.
Microsoft is making a bid to catch up to rival phone platforms with Windows Phone 7, which the company first introduced earlier this year.
The software, reviewed here by CNET's Bonnie Cha, is revamped effort with much improved multimedia experience and new way of organizing content around "hubs."
Phones equipped with both a Qwerty keyboard and touch-screens are expected.
