Foxconn the world's largest electronics components maker, confirmed on Thursday the death of a woman at one of its Chinese manufacturing sites in East China.
Foxconn said in a statement that the woman fell from a dormitory at a plant at its Foxconn unit in mainland China early on Wednesday. The woman, 22, was from Jiangsu Province and was working as an assembly worker, it said.
Hon Hai came under intense international scrutiny earlier this year after a series of suicides at Chinese plants run by Foxconn. The suicides, which the company said were not work-related but which victims' families have blamed on tough conditions, triggered a wave of labour unrest in China.
Police are investigating the incident, the statement said.
