Samsung Electronics and Seagate Technology have announced plans to jointly develop and cross license controller technologies for enterprise-class solid state drives (SSD).

The joint development effort builds on the existing SSD capabilities of each company, combining Seagate's experience in enterprise storage technology with Samsung's flash memory technology specific to 30nm-class MLC NAND. The jointly developed controller will be utilized in Seagate's products, according to the announcement.
