Semicon Taiwan to attract 60,000 visitors

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

The 15th annual SEMICON Taiwan trade show will kick off on September 8 and run through Friday at the Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), highlighting eight theme pavilions including green management, LED, MEMS and 3D IC & advanced packaging and testing.

This year's SEMICON Taiwan will feature 560 exhibiting companies with a total of 1,150 booths. SEMI, the host organization, expects over 60,000 visitors during the exposition. In 2009, nearly 20,000 visitors attended the annual three-day show with more than 520 exhibiting companies.

In addition, SEMI reiterated its estimate that Taiwan will be the largest semiconductor equipment market with US$9.18 billion in 2010, as industry giants including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) and Nanya Technology all plan to increase their capex. Worldwide semiconductor equipment sales are projected to reach US$32.50 billion in 2010, more than doubling the US$15.92 generated in 2009.

Taiwan will likely remain the No. 1 position in 2011, when total semiconductor equipment sales worldwide climbs to US$35.53 billion, SEMI indicated.
