HTC has announced revenues of NT$24.18 billion (US$758.36 million) for August, a decrease of 1.75% sequentially but an increase of 115.26% on year. Accumulated revenues from January-August totaled NT$147.7 billion, up 61.16% from a year earlier.
Despite a modest monthly decline, the result is seen as positive news since the Taiwan-based company's revenues remained at a high level even after the introduction of flagship smartphones by competitors such as Apple, Motorola and Samsung Electronics, according to sources from component suppliers.
Judging from HTC's component orders, its third-quarter revenues will likely exceed previous projections by 5-10% to about NT$74-77 billion, the sources said.
