Nanya Technology reported growth in August 2010 sales from the previous month, despite DRAM price corrections in the contract market.
Nanya generated revenues of NT$5.26 billion (US$165 million) in August, up 3.2% from July. Revenues for the first eight months of 2010 totaled NT$40.19 billion, rising 89.5% from a year earlier.
Nanya in July revealed plans to convert 60-70% of its total 12-inch chip production to Micron Technology's 50nm process in the third quarter, compared to about 50% in the second quarter. With production on 50nm ramping, the company expects its DRAM bit shipments to grow 20% sequentially in the third quarter.
Nanya is also set to expand capacity at its 12-inch chip plant to 50,000 wafer starts a month by the end of 2010, the company was quoted in previous reports.
