Silicon Integrated Systems (SiS) saw its August 2010 revenues drop 44.93% on year and 9.28% sequentially to NT$243 million (US$7.6 million), marking its third consecutive month of decline, while VIA Technologies posted NT$386 million in August revenues, up 5.67% on month and 5.74% on year.
Weaker-than-expected PC demand was the main driver behind SiS' revenue decline since the company currently still heavily relies on its PC chipset business. But the upcoming launch of Microsoft's Kinect should benefit SiS with increased demand for Xbox 360 southbridge chipsets.
VIA also announced combined revenues from January-August of NT$3.29 billion, a slight increase of 2.41% on year.
