Monday, September 20, 2010

Apple announced Sunday that its iPhone 4 will be available in China starting Sept. 25.

The popular smartphone will go on sale at 8am in Apple Stores and China Unicom retail stores. Apple currently has two retail stores in the country - one at Sanlitun in the Chaoyang District of Beijing and another in the Pudong District of Shanghai. On the same day it launches the iPhone 4, however, Apple will also open two new retail stores in China - one in Shanghai's Hong Kong Plaza and another in Beijing's Xidan Joy City.

The 16GB iPhone 4 will sell for about $745, while the 32GB one will retail for about $893 without contracts. Details about pricing for devices with a two-year contract through China Unicom.

Customers who buy the device in Apple Retail Stores will receive personal set-up service, and Apple will also run workshops throughout the day to help users get set up on the devices.

The Apple iPad went on sale in China on Sept. 17.
