Gigabyte Technology on September 28 will introduce the T1125 11.6-inch notebook, which reportedly will come equipped with a rotatable touch-panel display and docking station, prompting some to consider it a notebook, tablet and desktop hybrid.
For the first half of 2010, Gigabyte's notebook and netbook shipments totaled 200,000 units, of which notebooks represented a 70% share, according to industry sources, adding that the shipment target for the year is set at 300,000 units. With demand for netbooks trending down, Gigabyte has plans to unveil a "iPad-like" tablet PC at the of the year or early 2011.
Though the company is seeing improvements in its notebook business, a loss is still projected for 2010.
