Lenovo predicts highest Notebook shipment growth in 2011

Monday, October 4, 2010

Lenovo has seen its notebooks occupy more than 30% of total notebook sales in the China market in 2010 and will maintain the leading status in 2011.

Due to fast growing demand in China and emerging markets such as India, Lenovo's 2011 global notebook shipments are expected to increase the most from 2010 among its fellow vendors, the sources pointed out.

Lenovo shipped 4.8 million notebooks to become the fourth-largest vendor in the second quarter of 2010, the sources cited IDC as indicating. China will surpass the US to become the largest single notebook market in 2012-2014, and Lenovo will benefit the most among all vendors, the sources indicated.

Taiwan-based Wistron, Compal Electronics and Quanta Computer are Lenovo's three main ODMs, with the first two having obtained 35-40% of Lenovo's 2011 planned shipments and Quanta 20%, the sources pointed out.
