Fujitsu expects to ship five million notebooks in 2010 and aims to increase shipments to 10 million units in 2012, according to Fujitsu Taiwan.
Although Fujitsu shipped only 1.7 million notebooks in the first half of 2010 based on IDC statistics, sales performance in the third quarter was good, especially in the Asia market, Fujitsu Taiwan indicated.
In order to minimize production costs, Fujitsu will rely more on outsourced production, with the proportion of total shipments to be gradually increased from much less than 50% currently, to 50%, the company pointed out. Quanta Computer is Fujitsu's main ODM currently, and Wistron will become an additional one in 2011, the company indicated. However, Wistron did not confirm.
Fujitsu, on October 5, unveiled several notebooks for launch in the Taiwan market, including LifeBook series 15.6-inch AH530, 13.3-inch SH530 and 11.6-inch PH520 which are all produced by Quanta.
