Powerchip Technology and ProMOS Technologies saw their revenues drop on month in September 2010.
Powerchip has announced revenues for September slid 15.4% to NT$7.52 billion (US$242 million), ending a run of sequential growth since March. Revenues for the July-September quarter amounted to NT$25.02 billion, up 3.3% from the NT$25.22 billion registered in the prior quarter.
Powerchip VP and spokesperson Eric Tang attributed the decline in September sales to falling DRAM prices. Looking into the fourth quarter, Tang said the company expects its 63nm process technology transition to substantially reduce manufacturing costs. Powerchip will also step up efforts to implement new process shrinks to boost its cost competitiveness, Tang added.
ProMOS collected revenues of NT$2.23 billion in September, down 7.6% on month. Revenues from July through September totaled NT$6.96 billion, rising 8.76% on the NT$6.4 billion posted in the second quarter.
Fellow DRAM companies Nanya Technology and Rexchip Electronics also saw their September revenues drop sequentially on sliding memory prices, according to announcements made earlier. Inotera Memories bucked the trend, as it was the only Taiwan DRAM maker to generate revenue growth on month.
