ProMOS Technologies saw its revenues increase 8.8% sequentially to NT$6.96 billion in the third quarter of 2010, but net losses widened from NT$777 million in the second quarter to NT$3.9 billion. The losses translated into a negative EPS of NT$1.50 for the third quarter, according to company data.
The sequential growth in third-quarter revenues was buoyed by a 63nm production ramp-up, but came in below expectations due to falling ASPs.
In the second quarter, gains resulting from the sale of a wafer fab allowed ProMOS to narrow its net losses significantly compared to losses of NT$3.23 billion in the first quarter. Without additional investment gains and contribution from favorable DRAM prices, ProMOS reported wider losses for the third quarter. This also marked the fourteenth straight quarterly loss for the Taiwan-based DRAM company.
But ProMOS' net losses for the first three quarters of 2010 showed improvement from losses of NT$17.96 billion a year ago to NT$7.9 billion.
