Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) will raise its employees' base salaries in 2011 with the increase rate to be decided later after taking into account of the ratios offered by peer companies at the Hsinchu Science Park (HSP), according to company chairman Morris Chang.
TSMC, the world's largest made-to-order chipmaker, raised its employees' salaries by 15% on average in 2010.
Additionally, based on TSMC's new profit-sharing scheme, the company has already distributed a total of NT$8.162 billion (US$268.25 million) in bonuses to its employees for the first three quarters of 2010, according to the company.
Including year-end bonus, TSMC is expected to distribute a total of NT$21 billion in bonuses to its employees for 2010, according to an estimate of industry watchers. Based on TSMC's total employees of 30,000 at present, each TSMC employee will receive an average bonus of NT$700,000 for 2010, an increase of 28% from a year earlier, the sources calculated.
