United Microelectronics Corp. has announced that its net sales for November 2010 were approximately NT$10.44 billion (about $345 million), down 2.4 percent over net sales for October 2010 and an increase of 14.0 percent over November 2009. The November sequential decline comes after a 2.2 percent sequential decline in UMC sales in October.
Revenues for UMC (Hsinchu, Taiwan) for January through November 2010 totaled NT$110.25 billion (about $3.65 billion), an increase of 39.0 percent compared with the same period in 2009.
The sequential monthly decline was slightly more than the decline in 2009 when November sales revenue was 1.5 percent below the October figure.
However, the 2.4 percent decline is less than the 4 percent sequential decline UMC has averaged in November over the ten years 2000 to 2009. This was dragged down by large falls in 2008, 2007 and 2004. In 2008, at the start of the global economic crisis, UMC's November sales revenue fell sequentially by 23.8 percent. In 2007 the equivalent figure was a 10.8 percent decline
