Semiconductor manufacturing equipment vendors notched sales of $13.2 billion in the third quarter, up 16 percent from the previous quarter and up 96 percent compared to the third quarter of 2009, according to VLSI Research Inc.
Japanese equipment vendors Tokyo Electron Ltd. and Advantest Corp. each grew sales 31 percent in the third quarter compared to the second quarter, the highest growth among the top 10 semiconductor equipment suppliers, according to VLSI Research (Santa Clara, Calif.).
Applied Materials Inc. and ASML Holding NV of the Netherlands easily maintained their positions as the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked equipment vendors during the third quarter, VLSI Research said.
