Foxconn has almost completed phase-1 development of its production base in Zhengzhou City, northern China, and will hire more than 140,000 workers in 2011.
The production base occupies 140 hectares of land, with development in the first phase kicking off in mid-September 2010. To house the large workforce, Foxconn has completed 19 dormitory buildings nearby and is constructing 49 more on another nearby site, the source pointed out. In addition to Foxconn, more than 30 makers in Foxconn's supply chain will set up factories at the site of the production base.
Foxconn expects the base to generate cumulative production value of 500 billion yuan (US$75 billion) over the initial five years, the source indicated.
