Nanya Technology and Inotera Memories, two major Taiwan-based DRAM makers, have reported sequential revenue growth for December. However, revenues were down by double-digit rates compared to the levels posted in December 2009.
Nanya turned in NT$4.05 billion (US$139 million) in December, up 2.2% on month but down 18.5% on year. Revenues for the entire 2010 totaled NT$56.54 billion, rising 33% from 2009.
Inotera registered NT$3.12 billion in December revenues, showing a 15.6% rise sequentially but a 33.3% decline from a year ago. The company saw 2010 revenues of about NT$41.45 billion, representing a 14.8% increase from 2009 levels.
Nanya and Inotera are scheduled to jointly hold an investors conference on January 24, to discuss their performance in the fourth quarter and guidance for 2011.
Both Nanya and Inotera earlier revealed they would grow shipments to minimize the impact of chip price falls. Buoyed by capacity ramp-ups using more advanced processes, Nanya's and Inotera's bit shipments are set to climb 60% and 70-80%, respectively, on quarter in the fourth quarter.
