Samsung Electronics will offer refunds on some computers because of a design flaw in one of Intel’s chips.
Samsung will give refunds for computers equipped with chipsets that support Intel’s Sandy Bridge processors, James Chung, a spokesman for South Korea’s largest electronics maker, said today.
Intel, the world’s largest maker of semiconductors, said yesterday it may spend $700 million to repair and replace affected products. Intel said it have corrected the flaw.
Samsung will allow refunds or exchanges for six computer models sold in South Korea and one in the U.S., Chung said in a telephone interview. The offer will probably affect about 2,000 to 3,000 units sold since the products were introduced last month, he said.
