HP & Dell to unveil latest tablet

Thursday, February 10, 2011

Hewlett-Packard (HP) and Dell are both set to announce their latest tablet PCs shortly with mixed platforms as well as operating systems.

HP is set to announce its latest WebOS-based devices on February 9 in the US with tablet PCs expected to be the spotlight.

Although HP has set to unveil its products soon, due to the fact its hardware and software are both still in testing, the company is currently still evaluating the schedule for mass shipments. In addition to Windows 7- and WebOS-based tablet PCs, the company already launched an Android-based tablet PC bundled with a printer, in the retail channel in the second half of 2010.

Dell also recently announced a 10-inch Windows 7-based tablet PC for the enterprise market. However, the device will not be categorized under its Streak product line in order to separate the device from its entertainment tablet PCs.

Although Dell cooperated with Taiwan-based Qisda for its 5-inch Steak tablet PC in 2010, Dell reportedly has turned to partner with Compal Electronics for its future tablet PC plans, the sources noted.
