Taiwan-based motherboard players including Asustek Computer, Pegatron Technology, Gigabyte Technology, Micro-Star International (MSI) have all reported drop in February revenues due to fewer working days in the month and Intel's defective chipset incident.

Asustek announced revenues of NT$14.22 billion (US$484.25 million) for February, down 28.38% on month and 30.28% on year, with combined revenues from the first two months of 2011 reaching NT$34.08 billion, down 20.91% on year.

Although Asustek originally expects its motherboard shipments will reach 5.4 million units, notebook 2.8 million units, and netbook 1.4 million units in the first quarter of 2011 due to the defective chipsets incident, since the company has already started shipping new products with fixed chipsets in March, the company expects its product shipments will start growing each month.

Pegatron saw its revenues drop 31.7% on month and 34% on year to reach NT$19.95 billion in February with combined revenues from January to February hit NT$49.17 billion, down 23.3% on year.

MSI reported revenues of NT$4.96 billion for February, down 28.25% on month and 27.79% on year with combined revenues of the first two months in 2011 reaching NT$11.86 billion, down 16.47% on year.

Gigabyte also saw its revenues in February drop 45.36% on month and 34.68% on year to NT$2.74 billion with combined revenues of the first two months in 2011 reaching NT$7.74 billion, down 20.09% on year.
