HTC is expected to post more than NT$100 billion (US$3.44 billion) in revenues in the first quarter of 2011, beating the company's guidance of NT$94 billion, according to industry sources. The company is scheduled to announce its March results on April 8.
Powered by shipments of new phones, including HTC Thunderbolt, Incredible S, Desire S, Wildfire S, Chacha/Salsa, Pyramid and Shooter, HTC is expected to see its shipments reach 12 million units in the second quarter, generating revenues of NT$130-150 billion, the sources estimated.
HTC share prices soared NT$60, or 5.3%, to close at NT$1,200 on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE) on April 6, boosting the company's market capitalization to NT$980 billion (US$33.79 billion), higher than Nokia's US$32.84 billion as of April 5 at the close of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the sources indicated.
