Elpida Memory has disclosed the impact of the earthquake that occurred in northeast Japan on April 7 on its business operations.
Elpida said that subsidiary Akita Elpida Memory is not operating as of the morning of April 8 due to a power shutdown caused by the earthquake. As soon as electricity comes back on, normal business operations will resume, Elpida indicated.
Akita Elpida provides IC packaging and testing services. It was affected by power outages after the earthquake struck northeastern Japan on March 11, but resumed production five days later on the restoration of electricity supply.
Elpida's chip plant in Hiroshima, southwest Japan, suffered no impact, the company said.
