Samsung Austin Research Center (SARC) today announced plans to hire 30 chip designers in 2011.
The jobs come in addition to the 300 engineers and technicians that Samsung Austin Semiconductor is hiring in the first six months of 2011 as part of a $3.6 billion expansion of its plant. Samsung Austin Semiconductor currently employs approximately 2,000 people.
SARC also announced that it will move mid-summer to a 30,000-square-foot location independent of the Samsung Austin Semiconductor site as it has outgrown its current space.
"The growth of SARC since it was founded a little more than a year ago has been remarkable," Keith Hawkins, SARC vice president, said in a statement. "What started as a nimble team has evolved into a full-fledged Austin-based chip design center."
SARC currently employs approximately 80 front-end and back-end chip designers. It said ideal applicants for the open positions range from new graduates to seasoned professionals holding a master's degree in electrical or computer engineering.
