NAND flash contract prices are expected to stabilize in the third quarter, according to Phison Electronics chairman Khein Seng Pau. But prices may have little room for growth, said Pau.
NAND flash prices have now hit bottom, but the low prices are beginning to stimulate end-market demand, Pau indicated. Prices should move to stabilize rather than enjoy significant rallies over the coming months, Pau noted.
Pau said that he is not pessimistic about the industry outlook for the third quarter, despite many market observers reckoning that 2011's high season effect will not be as pronounced as in the past. Peak-season demand can still be expected in the quarter, Pau suggested.
In addition, Pau expects Phison's sales for the third quarter to outperform those for the second quarter thanks to more favorable pricing. For 2011, Phison is aiming to boost its revenue growth, not profitability, Pau added.
