Infineon Technologies has announced that the company is shipping Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chips for devices running Google's Chrome operating system.
The TPM is an integral part of the security architecture of Google Chromebooks and Infineon is the first supplier of TPM chips, the company claimed.
Infineon offers hardware and software products for Trusted Computing in compliance with the specifications published by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG). Infineon's TPM has passed the TCG's certification process and achieved the Common Criteria EAL 4+ certification. In addition to the TPM chip, Infineon provides its TPM professional package security software offering initialization, management and application support.
