Component suppliers have reported strong orders for October for e-book readers and tablet devices.
E-book reader demand is expected to continue growing significantly through the end of November, driven by vendors' pricing strategies.
Strong demand from the e-book vendors lifted component suppliers' performances in August and September, and will continue to do so till November, the sources said.
E Ink Holding (EIH) and Chunghwa Picture Tubes (CPT) are benefitign much for supplying e-paper and backplane, respectively, for Kindle e-book readers, and they are both confident about their shipments in the fourth quarter of 2011, the sources said.
Kindle Fire adopts touch modules from Wintek and J Touch, and touch sensors from CPT, according to the sources.
Barnes and Noble's Nook Color and Nook Color 2 source touch panels chiefly from TPK Holding, the sources said. But YLG Optotech, a joint venture of Young Lighting Technology and the Japan-based Gunze, is also a supplier of capacitive touchscreens for Nook Color 2, sources added. Young Lighting Technology is a subsidiary of Coretronic.
