Memory module firm Transcend Information saw its revenues grow 12.8% sequentially in September, driven by shipments of flash products. Shipments of both SD cards and flash drives climbed to the monthly highest levels so far in 2011, according to the company.
Transcend generated NT$2.8 billion (US$91 million) in September revenues. Revenues for the third quarter of 2011 amounted to NT$7.8 billion, rising 12.8% on quarter.
Looking into the fourth quarter, Transcend expects growing sales of industrial memory products to buoy the company's sales performance.
Transcend has in recent years actively diversified into the market for industrial-use memory modules and flash devices, which yield higher margins than conventional DRAM modules for PCs. The company was quoted as saying in previous reports that its industrial product line would account for 30% of its total revenues in 2011, compared to about 20% in 2010.
In September 2011, Transcend's sales ratio between NAND flash devices, DRAM modules and others was 65:16:19, compared to 60:24:16 a year ago.
