Lossmaking Taiwanese DRAM vendor Nanya Technology Corp. has said it has filed a complaint with the U.S. International Trade Commission against Elpida Memory Inc., Elpida Memory (USA) Inc., and Kingston Technology Co. Inc. alleging patent infringement.
Because of the alleged infringement of four U.S. patents by Elpida DRAM, Nanya (Taoyuan, Taiwan) is asking the ITC to ban the importation and sale of Elpida DRAMs in the United States.
"We have invested tremendous resources in DRAM R&D since the company was founded in 1995," said Pei-Lin Pai, Nanya vice president of global sales and marketing, in a statement. "Nanya Technology has always respected intellectual property rights, and we expect other companies to respect our intellectual property," he added.
Pai said Nanya is considering other options including the filing of a patent infringement lawsuit in a United States district court.
