Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. has started making a 40-inch sized LCD panel that includes an infra-red optical sensor in each pixel for better touch sensitivity.
All of the input functions of a keyboard, mouse or scanner can be carried out on the panel which can detect up to 50 touch points on the screen while displaying high definition resolution images.
The optical-sensor-in-pixel LCD panel has been installed in the Samsung SUR40 display which has been developed by Microsoft and Samsung as table-format PC under the name Microsoft Surface.
