Acer report launch several ultrabook models with prices ranging from US$699-799 in 2012 to stir up demand for ultra-thin notebooks.

Acer president Jim Wong said recently that Acer's ultrabook prices will drop to US$799-899 in the second quarter of 2012 and to US$499 in 2013.

Acer chairman JT Wang has also said that the market for ultrabooks is gaining momentum, and shipments of ultrabook models are expected to expand significantly when the prices of ultrabooks go down to US$699.

Acer will strive to boost its PC shipments by 10% in 2012, the Chinese-language Commercial Times quoted Wang as saying. Total PC shipments from Acer are expected to reach 35-37 million units in 2012, the paper said, citing an estimate from industry sources.
