United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) saw its revenues decline about 22.75% on year in November 2011, which marked the foundry's seventh-straight month of annual decreases.
UMC reported November revenues of NT$8.07 billion (US$267.3 million). Revenues for the first 11 months of 2011 slid 11.3% from a year ago to NT$97.77 billion.
UMC has guided wafer shipments for the fourth quarter will decrease about 10% sequentially with ASPs up 5%. Utilization rate for the quarter is estimated at 66-69%, down from 74% in the prior quarter.
Along with lower revenues and utilization rate, UMC's operating margin should slip to 1-3% in the fourth quarter, the foundry said previously
