Revenues at United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) amounted to NT$24.43 billion (US$809.6 million) in the fourth quarter of 2011 after the foundry posted higher December sales from November.

UMC has reported NT$8.11 billion in December revenues, up 0.5% on month but down 20.4% on year. Fourth-quarter revenues represented a 3% sequential decrease, better than the company's guidance.

UMC said previously that wafer shipments for the fourth quarter would decline about 10% sequentially, but ASPs would rise 5% on quarter.

UMC is scheduled to detail its financial results for the last quarter of 2011 and guidance for first-quarter 2012 at its upcoming investors meeting on February 8.
