Samsung to unveil Galaxy Tab 2 in Asia


Wednesday, March 28, 2012 The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 series will be offered in 7-inch and 10.1-inch form factors, both running on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system with improved Android features. For both models, consumers can choose between 3G and WiFi versions, says Lee Jui Siang, mobile phones director, Samsung Malaysia, at the recent Samsung Southeast Asia, Oceania and Taiwan Forum in Bangkok. Made for users who want convenience and ultra portability, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7-inch supports HSPA+ 21 Mbps network while incorporating a 1 GHz dual-core processor. Its design is further enhanced by the 3 megapixel rear camera, VGA front camera, USB, Bluetooth and WiFi connectivity options as well as A-GPS support. Offering similar features, the larger Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1-inch is targeted at home users and families. Both models come with a more intuitive user interface and upgraded swipe control to ensure fluidity of user interaction. To add value, Samsung offers a new service called Samsung S Suggest, which helps users get to popular apps faster. Another service, Readers Hub gives users access to over 2.3 million e-book titles, 2,300 magazines and 2,000 newspapers in 51 languages. With the new operating system, users now can access Google+ Hangout for conducting multi-party video calls. Another social feature is the ChatON which allows cross-platform communications. Galaxy Tab 2 series will be available in Southeast Asia starting this month. Apart from the new tablet series, Samsung also plans to bring in the Samsung Galaxy Beam, its smartphone model which incorporates a projector into the local market, says Lee. .
