Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company reported consolidated revenues for the first quarter of 2012 are expected to be at NT$103-105 billion (US$3.5-3.6 billion.
TSMC's consolidated revenues amounted to NT$68.42 billion in the first two months of 2012. The watchers estimated the firm's March consolidated revenues at NT$35.5-36.5 billion, bringing its year-to-date sales to NT$104-105 billion.
Rising orders for 65nm and below processes made a key contribution to TSMC's March sales, which are set to increase from the NT$33.86 billion posted in February, the watchers indicated. Order momentum is expected to remain brisk to sustain the foundry's sales growth in the following months, the watchers said.
TSMC reportedly has been running at full capacity at its 12-inch fabs thanks to strong orders for 28nm as well as 40nm and 65nm designs since the beginning of March. Order visibility for its higher-end processing technology has extended into the middle of the third quarter, according to sources at mobile communications chip suppliers.
