Intel is set to release its next-generation Xeon processor at the end of the second quarter.
The sources pointed out that Xeon processors have not had a major update for two years and the existing Xeon E3 processors still adopt the Sandy Bridge architecture. The upcoming Ivy Bridge-based Xeon E3 processors are expected to start shipping in June.
PCI Express Gen.3 features 8GT/s transmission rates and is backward compatible. Nvidia and AMD are both expected to adopt the specification in their graphics cards in the third or fourth quarter.
Hewlett-Packard (HP) has just launched its latest Z series workstation products in Taiwan along with its first all-in-one workstation – the HP Z1, which features a 27-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2560 by 1440.
In 2011, HP had a share of 66% in Taiwan's workstation market and 46.6% in the global workstation market, followed by Dell at 38.9% and Lenovo third. HP's workstation ODM partner is Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry), its thin client is supplied by Wistron, the sources noted.
