Vizio, a vendor affiliated with Taiwan-based maker Amtran Technology, has been selling 60-inch LCD TVs at US$998 in the North America market and will reportedly launch a 70-inch model with panels to be supplied by Sharp in the market at US$1,999 at the end of 2012, according to industry sources.
Vizio's plans to release the TV are reportedly due to rising popularity for large-size TVs in the North America market as well as increased competition between Korea-based Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics to obtain the number one TV sales spot in the market.
Meanwhile, the sources are still speculating whether Sharp and Foxconn Electronics will be able to release a new 60-inch TV in the Taiwan market for less than NT$30,000 (US$999) by the end of 2012.
