Acer has announced revenues of NT$25.53 billion (US$880.8 million) for October, down 32.13% on month, with combined revenues for the first ten months of 2012 reaching NT$306.1 billion, down 9.14% on year.
Due to revenues contributed by Windows 8-based notebook shipments, have already been claimed in September, while demand from the retail channel in October was weak, Acer suffered a more than 30% on-month drop in the month.
As for whether Acer will achieve shipment growth in the fourth quarter, the company is not confident, but company chairman JT Wang pointed out that if Windows 8-based notebook models see strong sales, the company should enjoy 5% sequential shipment growth, but if the sales are weaker than expected, the company may instead see a sequential drop of 5%.
However, shipments and market share are no longer the goal of Acer and the company will try to earn consumers' heart and win their confidence, the company noted.
Sources from the upstream supply chain also pointed out that if Windows 8 is able to receive consumers' attention, there may be possible appearance of short-term orders starting in December.
