Asustek Computer expects motherboard shipments in 2013 to decrease by 2.3% from 2012 to 21.5 million units, while fellow maker Gigabyte Technology expects 2013 shipments to be the same as the 19 million units shipped in 2012.
Asustek will ship an estimated 22 million motherboards in 2012, dropping 5.2% from 2011 and 12% short of the targeted 25 million units set in early 2012 due to shrinking DIY market demand.
Gigabyte's shipments of an estimated 19 million motherboards in 2012 will increase 11.8% from 2011. In addition, Gigabyte will ship an estimated 3.5 million graphics cards in 2012, hiking 20.7% from 2011. The company expects to ship 1.45 million motherboards and 340,000 graphics cards in December. Local stock market analysts predict that Gigabyte will generate net EPS of NT$2.60-3 for 2012, higher than NT$2.46 posted in 2011.
