Latest rumors are flying over in Taiwan, suggested that Foxconn is now testing large LCD TV for Apple Inc. According to the source from Focus Taiwan, Apple is working with Hon Hai to test several designs for its long-talked-about TVs and currently testing several LCD panels ranging between 46~55 inches.
Moreover, the source said the Apple will introduce new "Apple TV-related products" during the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas early January.
Apple CEO Tim Cook told NBC News recently that the company's interest in TV has grown beyond a "hobby." "It's an area of intense interest," Cook said.
Hon Hai has declined to respond to the reports. Nevertheless, the source said it is unlikely that shipments of the appliances will begin as soon as the end of next year.
Late in November, Hon Hai started selling 60-inch TVs in Taiwan, partner with Chunghwa Telecom. Hon Hai is very aggressive to acquire the production of a panel plant owned by Sharp, but the talk between two sides did not reach an agreement. But Hon Hai holds a stake in a liquid-crystal-display factory owned by Sharp, Sakai International Operation, which focuses on producing 60-inch LCD panels.
A Sharp spokeswoman declined to comment on any products the company is working on while Hon Hai officials were not immediately available for comment.
