Foxconn to produce materials for railroad cars


Tuesday, January 15, 2013 Taiwan-based EMS provider Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) has established Qingdao Haiyuan New Alloy Materials in Qingdao, northern China, to produce materials for railroad car production.

Qingdao Haiyuan has set up three production lines of alloy metals for making railroad coaches through cooperation with CSR Qingdao Sifang Locomotive & Rolling Stock, a subsidiary of state-run CSR Group, in the first phase, the sources indicated.

Qingdao Haiyuan also has plans to expand its operation to even cover railroad car assembly, the sources added.

Qingdao Haiyuan's factory occupies land of 33.3 hectares and will entail total investment of CNY9 billion (US$1.44 billion) in three phases, the sources indicated.
