Acer has confirmed that it has discontinued the operations of its eMachines brand, which it brought in after acquiring Gateway.
The move was in line with the company's streamlining policy which company chairman JT Wang unveiled at the end of 2011.
Acer said it will continue its ongoing brand-consolidating process slated for completion in three years following Wang's announcement.
In addition to its own Acer brand, the Taiwan-based PC vendor also operates brands including Gateway, Packard Bell and Founder targeting different consumer segments and regional markets.
