Lenovo is likely to ship the most notebooks in the global
market during the first quarter of 2013, according to estimates by Taiwan-based
supply chain makers . Lenovo and Asustek Computer are expected to see their
notebook shipments in the first quarter of 2013 increase by up to 5% on
quarter, while Hewlett-Packard (HP), Dell and Toshiba are expected to see
sequential decreases of 20% and Acer will see a drop of 15-20%, the sources
said However, HP is expected to continue its lead for the whole
year of 2013 by shipping an estimated 35 million notebooks, while Lenovo will
ship 30-31 million units, the sources indicated. HP was the largest notebook
vendor in 2012 with shipments of 32 million units and Lenovo ranked second by
shipping nearly 30 million units, the sources noted.
As Dell is expected to gradually decrease its PC
business operations after privatization, HP stands a chance of taking over a
large portion of Dell's notebook sales in North America,
the sources pointed out
