Wistron will gradually shift its focus from notebook to non-notebook businesses with its after-sales service business starting to see rapid growth in 2013, and its IT product recycling business taking off in 2015, helping the company to lower its notebook business revenues contribution to below 40% in 2015, according to company chairman Simon Lin.
Lin noted that 2013 will be a stable year for Wistron and the company's non-notebook product lines will achieve an average shipment growth of 20% on year, leaving the notebook business seeing flat performance.
Since Wistron did not have strong tablet shipments in 2012, Lin expects shipments in 2013 will triple the volume of 2012.
Currently, Wistron's IT product recycling business is mainly focused on recycling plastic parts, PC boards and batteries and the company's plants in North America are able to produce 1kg of gold per day from the waste and recycle one million PC boards each month.
In 2015, the after-sales service and the IT product recycling businesses are expected to contribute 10% of the company's revenues, Lin added.
