DRAM maker Nanya Technology has reported net loss of NT$1.505 billion (US$50.7 million) for February, shrinking from average monthly net loss of NT$2.961 billion in the fourth quarter of 2012 and from net loss NT$3.004 billion for the entire 2012.
The loss decreased because Nanya has quit production of PC-use (standard) DRAM and focused on specialty DRAM, ended cooperation in technological development with Micron Technology to reduce quarterly R&D spending from NT$2.0 billion to NT$500 million, and prolonged service life of production equipment from 6-10 years to 12-14 years to decrease annual depreciation cost, the company said.
Nanya has also reported consolidated revenues of NT$2.874 billion for February, increasing 12.66% sequentially but decreasing 11.40% on year. Consolidated revenues for January-February dropped 6.69% to NT$5.425 billion.
