Acer will cooperate with Wistron to adopt recycled materials such as plastic into their products and the company also plans to cut its carbon emissions by 30% by 2015 and 60% by 2020.
Sources from the PC supply chain pointed out that as environmental protection gradually becomes a popular subject, recycled materials are also expected to be more broadly adopted by IT players in the future. Among ODMs, Wistron is the most aggressive player over the recycling business and the company expects its after-sales service and recycling businesses to together contribute 10% of its total revenues by 2015.
Acer was the number four in the 2012 Guide to Greener Electronics Companies ranking.
In additional news, Acer announced consolidated revenues of NT$28.1 billion (US$946.1 million) for February, up 6.68% on month, but down 30.23% on year, while the company's combined consolidated revenues for the first-two months of 2013 were NT$54.44 billion, down 23.83% on year.
